We arrange regular rows on weekday afternoons and evenings and on Saturdays (weather dependent). We’ve got plans for further social events on and off the water, regatta with local skiffs and some competitive race events in the future.
We also run ad-hoc training sessions for rowing techniques and a programme for becoming a club approved cox (person in charge of a skiff and crew during a row). Info will be posted on Spond (see below) and our Club Facebook page www.facebook.com/appinskiffrowing
Our membership runs from 1st April to 31st March each year. Once we have received your completed membership form and payment, our membership secretary will get in touch.
The club uses a free App called Spond, designed to be used by sports clubs, to organise rows. It’s for members only and will be where notices of rows will be published. The app helps the club to manage events, invite members to join a row, set up regular crews.
Adult: £40
2 adults from the same household: £70
Student (under 25): £20

Joining after October? We offer a lower membership fee as members are joining part way through the period. Fees are £25 for an adult from October onwards with full fee renewal payable from the following April.
We believe that financial circumstances should never be a barrier to rowing; we therefore have a concessional rate available. If membership fees present any difficulties, please reach out in confidence to Charlotte Parkin, Club Captain, at [email protected].
Sign up for a trial row - it’s fun, free and no experience is needed. Instruction and lifejacket are provided, and guidance on what to wear is given in advance. Rows start from Port Appin or Linnhe Marine (by Lettershuna) depending on the tides.
Everyone is welcome - it’s suitable for adults, and for teenagers accompanied by a parent or guardian. Come along for a few sessions to see how you like it before joining the Club (we're hoping you'll love it!). Contact us via Facebook AppinSkiffRowing or email [email protected].
Rowing is a potentially hazardous activity. The club has risk assessment, policies, procedures and drills to mitigate the potential hazards. These will only work if you, as a rower, engage with the processes and apply common sense and take responsibility for your own conduct to help keep our club incident free. This will make rowing safer, happier and more comfortable for all members.
You must wear a lifejacket and understand how to fit it correctly and inflate it if required. You must accept that the Cox is in command of the boat; they will be able to answer any questions if you’re not sure about what is going to happen next.
There is a longer document giving more detail on your responsibilities as a rower on the members page on Spond and here Rower responsibility (PDF).

It’s a good idea to familiarise yourself with the life jackets you’ll be wearing in the skiff. See the Youtube videos below, or for more information visit the manufacturer Crewsaver's Howto guides here>.
